We Will Not Vote For Lies Again, Dr. Bawumia – Ashanti Region Youths Express Frustration At Rally
A group of young residents in the Ashanti Region has sent a stern message to Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia, declaring that they will not be persuaded by what they describe as political deception and unfulfilled promises in the forthcoming elections.
The youth made their concerns known during an NPP campaign event intended to rally support for Bawumia. The programme, however, reportedly took an unexpected turn as some participants used the occasion to voice their dissatisfaction with the government and the difficulties they say they are experiencing.
With placards in hand, the protesters complained about unemployment, economic hardship and what they considered the administration’s failure to deliver on key promises.
Kwabena Asare, identified as one of the protest leaders, reportedly said many young people had expected the government’s promises of digital transformation, job opportunities and economic growth to improve their lives. Instead, he argued that the situation had become more difficult, leaving many young people struggling to make ends meet.
The group questioned whether the policies promoted by Bawumia and the NPP had produced the desired results. They claimed there was a significant difference between the messages delivered during political campaigns and the actual performance of the government after assuming office.
The protest carries particular political significance because the Ashanti Region has traditionally provided strong support for the NPP. The growing dissatisfaction among some young people could therefore present a challenge for the party if such sentiments become more widespread.
NPP supporters and officials have reportedly dismissed suggestions that the protest represents broader dissatisfaction, with some alleging that political opponents may have influenced the demonstration.
Nevertheless, the incident has drawn attention to the concerns of young voters who are demanding tangible improvements rather than promises. The development suggests that political parties may have to provide credible answers to unemployment, economic hardship and other youth-related challenges if they want to maintain or regain the confidence of the electorate.
