“EFCC Should Leave Us Alone And Go After People Eating Nigeria’s Money” – Akure Residents Protest EFCC Raid

Residents of Akure, Ondo State, have taken to the streets to protest following a raid carried out by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, in the state.

The protesters called on the anti-graft agency to leave them alone and instead focus on those allegedly involved in stealing or diverting public funds.

“EFCC should leave us alone and go after people eating Nigeria’s money,” some of the residents were heard saying during the protest.

The demonstration has since generated mixed reactions online, with some Nigerians supporting the protesters and questioning the activities of the EFCC, while others accused the protesters of resisting an anti-corruption operation.

Reacting to the development, @Necheremdaniel wrote: “There’s need for this. I stopped taking EFCC serious after seeing the former governor of Kogi state walking freely without prosecution.”
