Marion home invasion caught on doorbell camera prompts safety concerns
MARION, SC (WMBF) – A home invasion caught on a front doorbell camera has the Marion community thinking about their own safety.
Marion resident Jonneshia Wilson, a mother of five young children, said seeing the video made her think about what she would do if someone broke into her home.
“Oh, yeah. Being that I have five kids, and they’re all under the age of six, I don’t know what I would’ve done if somebody busted into my house. They probably wouldn’t have made it out, honestly. I probably would’ve chased them to the door with the gun, so she did better than me,” Wilson said.
Marion Police Chief Tony Flowers said the video could help investigators find the people responsible.
“Just be aware of your surroundings. Ring cameras and stuff like that really help us a lot, especially in this case. Any neighbors that may have video footage of the guys in that area, reach out to us and let us know,” Flowers said.
After seeing the video, Wilson said she’s now thinking about getting a camera for her own home.
“Now I’m really thinking about getting one, because that helps the cops a lot, too, to be able to identify the people. But it also puts an ease on the person that lives there, because now I can see who comes to my door,” Wilson said.
Marion police have identified persons of interest in the investigation. They are not releasing those names at this time.
