Good Evening News To Varsity Students As HELB Pays The Following Batch Numbers Today, Details
The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has started releasing tuition funds to universities following growing concerns among students over delays in receiving their financial support.
The board confirmed on Thursday, October 8, that funds linked to five batches had been processed and sent to various institutions. The batches include 007139, 007145, 007147, 007146 and 007132.
The latest disbursement is expected to ease pressure on students whose tuition payments have remained unsettled as they wait for their loan allocations to be processed.
HELB has advised students to regularly check their online portals for updates or contact their respective universities to establish whether the institutions have received the money.
The funds released in the latest round are intended for tuition and will therefore be transferred directly to the institutions. This means students should not expect the tuition portion to appear in their personal accounts.
However, students who are waiting for upkeep money may have to remain patient as the board continues with the processing of additional funds.
Some students have reported that their applications have remained under allocation for extended periods, raising concerns about how the delays could affect their studies.
The Ministry of Education has also urged universities to continue admitting students as efforts continue to move funds from the National Treasury to institutions.
The increased funding for student loans comes at a time when demand for financial assistance among university students remains high.
For the 2026/2027 financial year, the National Treasury allocated KSh58 billion for student loans, compared with KSh41 billion in the previous allocation.
The additional funding is expected to support more students and improve the flow of financial assistance through the higher education funding system.
