Whether you’re grabbing a packet as part of a meal deal, or just in need of a quick snack, you can’t go wrong with Walkers crisps.
And the nation’s favourite crisps are about to get even better, as the humble classic is experiencing a glow-up.
Metro can exclusively reveal that the brand is launching a new premium range in the UK.
Known as Walkers Gold, the premium potato crisps are said to have been ‘crafted to make any occasion special’ and ‘give everyone a little bit of gold inside’.
Here’s everything you need to know about them…
The Walkers Gold range features fancy flavours such as Black Truffle, Sea Salt & Olive Oil, and Somerset Mature Cheddar & Onion.
The crisps come in 140g sharing bags, and the new offering looks set to rival Kettle Chips and Tyrrells in UK supermarkets.
Currently, the only place you can get your hands on the Walkers Gold range is online at Ocado, where they are available to order for £2 a pack.
But don’t panic if you don’t like to shop online, as they’re set to launch nationwide from October 12 with an RRP of £1.50.
Wayne Newton, senior marketing director of Walkers Snacks, described the new crisps as ‘indulgent’, telling Metro that each one has been ‘slow-cooked for more crunch and character’ and given ‘a thinner cut for a more rustic texture’.
He continued: ‘The Walkers Gold Range has officially arrived, bringing a little extra luxury to the crisp aisle.
‘Designed for those moments when you want to make snacking feel a little more special, whether hosting friends and family in the run-up to Christmas, or as a perfect pre-dinner party snack, Walkers Gold is the perfect occasion crisp.
‘Anyone looking to try the new range can order a packet online at Ocado now, and nationwide from 12 October. We hope they enjoy them as much as we do!’

Earlier this year, the crisp giant, which is owned by PepsiCo, unveiled its ‘biggest revamp’ in 80 years.
Walkers revealed a modern ‘sun-inspired’ new logo, with rays of light coming from the middle. The brand claimed the design ‘champions’ the real ingredients and 100 per cent British potatoes used in every pack.
It was also decided that each packet of crisps would also display the signature of the brand’s founder, Henry Walker, as a nod to Walkers’ heritage and ‘long-standing commitment to quality’.
Marketing experts had a lot to say about the new look, which was speculated to be a sign of even more change at Walkers.
Zachary Estes, a professor of marketing at Bayes Business School, told Metro that he expects to see Walkers start selling something other than crisps in the future.
He explained that brands usually change their logo to either ‘simply update it’ or ‘to signal to customers that they are making fundamental changes’.
Zachary believes Walkers was doing the latter, saying: ‘The iconic yellow crisp at the centre of the old logo told consumers exactly what is inside, which is important when consumers don’t know the brand. However, when they do, it can be constraining. The old logo signals that Walkers only sells crisps.
‘The new sun icon is not closely related to crisps, so it’s an odd change unless the brand wants to be more than crisps.’
