Kasarani Woman Missing Since 2016 Found Alive with 9-Year-Old Daughter in Nakuru

A kasarani family that spent a decade searching for their missing relative has finally reunited with her after finding a forgotten letter hidden in their attic.

Grace Wanjiku disappeared mysteriously from a lodging in Thika town on the morning after her wedding in September 2016. Her family spent years calling the police, dragging local rivers, and searching the bush, but found no clues.

The decade-long silence ended last weekend when her sister, Emily, discovered a sealed letter addressed to her inside a box stored in their family home in Kasarani, Nairobi. The letter revealed that Grace had fled after discovering she was pregnant with another man’s child, fearing the shame and conflict it would bring to her family and her new husband.

Following a lead written at the bottom of the letter, Emily traveled to a residential area in Nakuru, where she found her sister living quietly with her nine-year-old daughter.

“When I saw her standing at the door, I couldn’t hold back my tears. We just hugged and cried for hours,” Emily shared during a phone interview.

The family expresses immense relief, ending ten years of grief and unanswered questions.
