Person dies following South Norfolk shooting

CHESAPEAKE — A person died after a shooting early Thursday morning, police said.

At about 2 a.m., police went to the 4000 block of Wake Avenue after getting a report of shots fired. This block has single-family homes and is in the South Norfolk section of Chesapeake. When police arrived, they found a person with multiple gunshot wounds in the road. Officers provided him life-saving measure and he was taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.

This situation remains under investigation and currently police have not found any suspects. Police also did not provide any information about the age or identity of the victim. Anyone with any information about this incident is asked to call the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP.
