Footage Shows Man who Died in KQ Plane Trying to Do This Before He Died
Videos circulating on social media appear to show passengers on a Kenya Airways (KQ) flight restraining a man who allegedly tried to open the aircraft’s cabin door in mid-air, before he reportedly died on board.
The footage, shared online by passengers, shows several travellers struggling with the man inside the cabin.
He is alleged to have become aggressive during the flight and to have tried to open the door more than once.
Passengers reportedly stepped in to hold him back.
The circumstances that led to the confrontation have not been independently established, including what prompted the alleged attempt.
It is also unclear how many times he tried to reach the door, or whether crew members helped restrain him.
The man later died, but his cause of death remains unknown.
It has not been established whether the confrontation was linked to his death or whether he suffered a medical emergency.
Kenya Airways confirmed a passenger’s death in a statement on Wednesday, October 7.
The airline said the emergency occurred on Tuesday, October 6, at about 9:20pm Nigerian time, which is 11:20pm in Nairobi.
According to KQ, the passenger was found unresponsive roughly 20 minutes before the plane landed at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
Crew administered first aid and followed emergency procedures, and medical personnel met the aircraft on arrival.
The airline’s statement made no mention of any incident involving the cabin door.
KQ also declined to disclose the passenger’s identity, nationality or age, and did not name the flight.
It said it is working with the family, Nigerian authorities and aviation regulators.
