What Ruto Said After Bondo Residents Asked Him About Oburu, Sparking A Heated Debate
President William Ruto has responded to residents of Bondo who asked about Siaya Senator and ODM party leader Oburu Odinga during his visit to the town on Wednesday.
Ruto spent the day in Bondo, Siaya County, where he presided over the official handover and dedication of the Raila Amolo Odinga Mausoleum at Kang’o ka Jaramogi. The mausoleum was built in honour of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga.
After the ceremony, Ruto addressed residents in Bondo town and spoke about Raila’s contribution to Kenya before preparing to leave the gathering.
As the President was leaving, some residents called out Oburu Odinga’s name and sought an update about his whereabouts.
Ruto repeated the name “Oburu” and appeared to confirm that the crowd was asking about the Siaya Senator.
The President then told residents that he had greetings from Oburu, explaining that the ODM leader was receiving medical attention and could not attend the ceremony.
Ruto assured the crowd that Oburu remained part of the leadership and said he was highly respected.
“Oburu is our chairman and party leader, and we respect him very much,” Ruto said.
Oburu missed the event due to his health, with his son Jaoko previously saying doctors had advised him to rest and limit physical activities as he recovers.
