El-Rufai In Lagos Told Ambode He’ll Teach Him How To Deal With Godfather; That’s His Offence—Galadima

Buba Galadima, a chieftain of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has alleged that former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai is being subjected to political persecution by the administration of President Bola Tinubu.

Galadima made the claim during an interview with Arise TV, where he discussed the allegations surrounding the former governor and the political circumstances surrounding his current situation.

According to Galadima, he believes one of the major reasons El-Rufai became a target was his earlier confrontation with political godfatherism in Lagos State.

He recalled that El-Rufai had visited former Lagos State Governor Akinwunmi Ambode and told him that he would show him how to handle political godfathers.

Galadima described that encounter as what he considered El-Rufai’s principal political offence, suggesting that it contributed to the difficulties the former governor is currently facing.

He stressed that his position was based on his belief in fairness and justice, rather than personal loyalty.

Galadima said he would oppose what he considers unfair treatment of any individual, including someone regarded as an adversary.

The NDC chieftain further argued that other Nigerians had faced allegations similar to those levelled against El-Rufai but remained outside detention. He questioned why the former Kaduna governor should be kept in custody without being granted bail if the allegations against him did not involve the killing of anyone.

Galadima also pointed to El-Rufai’s role in the political efforts that helped Tinubu secure the presidency, saying the former Kaduna governor had worked significantly for Tinubu’s emergence as president.

While discussing his position, Galadima said he did not believe the allegations against El-Rufai justified prolonged detention without bail. He maintained that the legal process should be applied fairly and consistently.

The comments reflect Galadima’s personal assessment of the situation. His allegations of political persecution are not presented as an established finding, and the circumstances surrounding any legal proceedings involving El-Rufai remain matters for the relevant authorities and courts.
