“I Used My Mother And Sister’s Unborn Child For Money Rituals” — Man Reveals What Happened

According to a report by GhanaWeb on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, a young Ghanaian man has shared a troubling story about how his search for financial success through spiritual means allegedly ended in tragedy for his family.

The man reportedly explained that he had travelled outside Ghana before returning to the country and visiting his mother in their village. At the time, he said he did not realise that the spiritual practices he had undertaken would later make him fear for the safety of his relatives.

During his visit, he said he bought gifts for his mother, prepared food and sat down to eat with her. However, shortly after he left the village, his mother reportedly became seriously ill.

According to his account, the 47-year-old woman died just a few days later. While he and his elder brother were making arrangements to take her remains to the mortuary, he claimed that he received a warning from what he described as a spiritual force associated with the rituals he had undergone.

He alleged that the spirit instructed him not to contribute money towards anything related to his mother’s burial. The warning reportedly strengthened his belief that the spiritual practices could have been connected to his mother’s death.

He recalled an incident involving the transportation of his mother’s remains. His brother had reportedly paid the driver, but the driver needed GH¢10 in change. The young man claimed that although he had several bundles of GH¢10 notes, one of the bundles mysteriously dropped to the ground when he tried to use it.

The man also said the spiritual practices came with several restrictions. One of the rules allegedly required him to remain indoors from Friday through Sunday, making it difficult for him to attend his mother’s funeral.

Despite the restriction, he eventually went to the funeral to make a payment. He said his behaviour during the occasion appeared unusual to some family members, who became suspicious and questioned him.

Faced with their concerns, the young man reportedly confessed to the family about the spiritual practices he had undertaken and asked for forgiveness.

He said his original intention was to seek spiritual assistance to improve his business and achieve financial success. However, he now regrets making that decision, particularly after the deaths of his mother and his sister’s unborn child.

The account has raised concerns about the risks people may face when seeking unverified spiritual solutions to financial and personal problems. The alleged spiritual connection to the deaths, however, remains the man’s account and has not been independently established.
