Morning Joe claims the media is developing a pro-Trump bias

MS NOW’s Joe Scarborough theorized this week that the mainstream media is subconsciously developing a pro-Trump bias.
Scarborough, 63, peddled the theory Tuesday while reacting to Donald Trump’s joking invitation for Iran to bomb California the day before.
Producers played the clip roughly an hour into Morning Joe.
Co-anchor Willie Geist paved the way for the exchange, stating in disbelief: ‘I just can’t get my head around what’s happened to people, Joe, that some of us even know, who laugh at stuff like that.’
‘And dismiss it. And justify it,’ a noticeably stern Scarborough began.
The footage of Trump comes from a Nebraska rally where he used sarcasm to maintain that high costs driven up by the Iran war were well worth it if Iran stays a non-nuclear state.
Trump had told the crowd on Monday: ‘It’s a small price to pay for keeping the world safe, for keeping our country safe. They could take out a city. Let them take out Los Angeles. Let them take out San Diego. That’s – this is a very small price to pay.’
Scarborough framed the remarks as par for the course for the President, along with ‘people being shot on the streets of America’ and ‘parents being dragged away from their children at school bus stops’ and kids ‘being put into internment camps.’
‘I could go down the list, and they justify it,’ Scarborough continued.
He concluded that Trump’s recent comments were ‘just crazy.’
Complaints about the lack of coverage they received followed. Scarborough pointed out how the only prominent reporting came from The New York Times.
‘I looked at The New York Times, I looked at The Wall Street Journal, I looked at The Washington Post, I looked at the Financial Times, looked at all, all the websites this morning to see how many picked them up,’ the host said.
‘If any President in American history had called for the obliteration of two American cities, even in what his deranged supporters would say is a joke – deranged because if you think it’s funny to joke about 10 million Americans being killed by Iran, that’s a serious problem,’ Scarborough stressed.
‘But he’s graded on such a curve that the bias actually breaks the other way,’ he continued.
‘He gets away with things that no other president would ever get away with, because people in the media are so numbed by it all by now.
‘So, media bias, yeah – media bias in a way that breaks his direction!’
The former Florida congressman concluded the missive by claiming snippets from Trump’s Monday speech, when combined with some of his other recent statements, raise ‘the same questions about his mental acuity that were asked about Joe Biden’s.’
‘But that’s not happening. And that won’t happen,’ Scarborough said, smiling.
‘Maybe afterwards people say, “Oh, I knew about this all along, and I’m going to write a book about it. Where was the media?” Yeah, whatever. Whatever.’
The parting blow was seemingly intended for Jake Tapper over at CNN.
‘And it’s not happening now because Donald Trump is graded on such a curve that he can say that, you know, he can say, let me get it right, “Let ‘em take out LA and San Diego” and only one newspaper, national newspaper, reports it,’ the host continued.
When approached for comment about Trump’s remarks Wednesday, the White House referred the Daily Mail to a pointed Wednesday X post from White House Communications Director Steven Cheung.
‘The media freakout over President Trump’s comments is not rooted in reality.
‘He was clearly stating US cities would have been threatened if a nuclear Iran hadn’t been stopped.
‘America is safer because of the President. Iran has no nuclear, no navy, no air force, and no money.’
