Emergency services were called to the crash, where a single minibus taxi had lost control and crashed.

The driver and conductor of the taxi survived the accident.

Five patients sustained serious injuries and required Advanced Life Support interventions. Mi7 Emergency Medical Services treated and transported two of the seriously injured patients to hospital, while another emergency medical service transported the remaining three.

Several of the deceased were trapped beneath the wreckage.

Firefighters used hydraulic rescue equipment, including the Jaws of Life, to recover those trapped in the wreckage.

The crash initially left emergency crews dealing with at least eight confirmed fatalities, but the death toll later rose to 10 as rescue and medical operations continued.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

The incident resulted in a significant emergency response, with multiple emergency medical and rescue crews working at the scene.

Motorists travelling through the Cato Ridge area were urged to approach the scene with caution and give emergency personnel enough space to carry out their work.

The circumstances leading to the taxi losing control and crashing have not yet been confirmed.
