The Plane Was Supposed To Crash Inside Our Compound But The Pilot Directed It To The Bush’ -Edema

An eyewitness and resident of Igbokoda, Igbekele Edema, has praised the pilot of the Nigerian Air Force ATR 42 aircraft involved in the crash for allegedly steering the plane away from a residential area moments before impact.

Speaking to Channels TV, Edema said the pilot’s action may have prevented a much more devastating outcome.

“That we are alive today is by the hand of God, and we are equally surprised as well. If not for the pilot, this accident would have been more fatal than this. The plane was supposed to crash inside our compound, but the pilot directed it to the bush,” he said.

Edema also recounted the frightening moments after the aircraft crashed. According to him, witnesses saw a large amount of water shoot into the air as the aircraft struck the ground before it became submerged.

He added that flames quickly engulfed the aircraft within seconds, making it difficult for people nearby to attempt an immediate rescue.

Meanwhile, the Ondo State Commissioner of Police confirmed that no survivors had been found as of the time of the report.
