114-year-old Brazilian reaches rare milestone
Two of the world’s oldest men, Brazil’s 114-year-old João Marinho Neto and Australia’s 113-year-old Ken Weeks, have celebrated their birthdays together.
Neto and Weeks were born exactly one year apart, and both celebrate their birthdays on the same day. They exchanged photographs holding birthday cards wishing each other a happy birthday.
Neto has been recognised as the world’s oldest living man since November 2024, when he was 112. He has now become one of only nine men in history to reach the age of 114 and holds the distinction of being the oldest man in Brazil’s history.
Medical experts say it is extremely rare for men to reach the age of 114 compared with women, making the achievement an exceptional and unusual event in world history.
