UN chief pays homage to Pakistan Armed Forces for embracing sacrifices
United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres praised on Wednesday the Pakistan’s efforts to resolve regional disputes peacefully during a meeting with Field Marshal Asim Munir at General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Guterres recognised Pakistan’s continued commitment to global peace and security and praised its role and services in UN peacekeeping missions.
The UN chief also paid tribute to Pakistan and its armed forces for their sacrifices in the fight against terrorism.
Field Marshal Asim Munir highlighted the Pakistan’s role in UN peacekeeping missions and reaffirmed the country’s commitment to global peace.
The meeting covered regional stability and the Jammu and Kashmir dispute. The two sides also discussed India’s move to place the Indus Waters Treaty in abeyance.
Talks also covered cooperation between Pakistan and the United Nations to promote global peace and security, as well as matters of mutual interest and the security situation in the region.
The issue of terrorism originating from Afghanistan was also discussed.
