Ghanaians Can Travel to These Three Countries Without Visa – Okudzeto Ablakwa
Ghana is moving to broaden visa-free travel access for its citizens following Cabinet’s approval of Visa Waiver Agreements with Antigua and Barbuda, the Maldives, and Zambia.
Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa said the proposed agreements would allow Ghanaian citizens and nationals of the three partner countries to enter each other’s territories without visas for short-term visits.
The arrangement would cover ordinary, service, and diplomatic passport holders, who could stay for up to 30 days per trip without securing a visa before departure.
Government officials expect the agreements to make travel easier while promoting tourism, trade, investment, educational exchanges, and stronger diplomatic relations.
Cabinet’s approval does not mean the agreements are already in force. They must still be submitted to Ghana’s Parliament for ratification before the visa-free arrangements can officially begin.
Once approved, the agreements would expand Ghanaian travellers’ access to countries across the Caribbean, South Asia, and Southern Africa.
The initiative is part of efforts to improve the mobility of Ghanaian passport holders and diversify the country’s international partnerships.
At the same time, authorities say easier international travel must be supported by stronger safeguards in the passport system, including reliable identity verification and measures to protect the integrity of Ghanaian travel documents.
