ISLAMABAD : Pakistan Navy Ship Yarmook has seized a large cache of narcotics worth approximately $96 million during two counter-narcotics operations in the Arabian Sea, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
The operations were conducted at extended distances from the Pakistani coast while the naval vessel was deployed in the Arabian Sea, according to ISPR.
During the operations, two dhows were intercepted and searched. Navy personnel recovered approximately 850 kilograms of ice and 2,000kg of hashish from concealed compartments inside the vessels.
The seized narcotics, estimated to be worth around $96 million, were taken into custody and will be handed over to the relevant authorities for disposal and further legal proceedings.
The ISPR said the successful operations demonstrated the Pakistan Navy’s sustained presence and vigilance in the region.
It added that the operations reflected the Navy’s continued commitment to regional maritime security and combating illicit trafficking at sea.
