Inside the Exclusive Memorial Park Where Wicknell Chivayo and His Wife Will Be Laid to Rest

Controversial Zimbabwean businessman Wicknell Chivayo and his wife Lucy Muteke are set to be laid to rest at Sahwira Glen Forest Memorial Park in Harare a premium cemetery developed by the Nyaradzo Group.

The couple died in a helicopter crash at Kudenga Farm in Marondera on September 30,together with other people who were on board.

Their burial has been scheduled for Thursday, October 8 at the Harare cemetery. The couple will have separate graves placed next to each other, with members of the public expected to attend the funeral.

The burial site, formerly known as Glen Forest Cemetery is undergoing a major transformation into a modern memorial destination. The facility is designed to offer families more than traditional burial spaces with a range of options aimed at different needs and budgets.

Sahwira Glen Forest provides single and double burial units, family burial spaces and cremation services. It also has eco forest burial options surrounded by greenery and landscaped areas, giving families a quieter environment for remembrance.

The cemetery has premium sections known as Royal Estates, which are marketed as high end memorial spaces.Current listings show some Royal Estate plots priced at about US$3,250 while Eco Forest options are available at lower prices.

Additional services include grave maintenance, tombstone installation, memorial plaques and digital memorial services.

The facility also provides modern security and digital features designed to preserve memories of those buried there.

Some services allow families to create digital memorials containing photographs, videos and other information about their loved ones.

The development reflects a growing effort to change the traditional image of cemeteries by creating spaces that combine burial, remembrance and family gatherings.

Its landscaped surroundings and different memorial packages are aimed at families looking for a more private and carefully planned final resting place.

For Chivayo and Muteke, the cemetery will become their final resting place following a funeral that has attracted widespread attention across Zimbabwe and beyond.

The family previously confirmed that there would be no viewing of the bodies because of the condition of the remains after the crash.
