New drones to provide surveillance, capability to deploy tear gas, shells, mortar rounds

The Punjab Police is set to acquire 25 advanced drones for emergency situations and special operations, with the unmanned aircraft equipped for surveillance and capable of deploying tear gas, shells and mortar rounds against criminals and terrorists.

More than Rs50 million has been allocated for the purchase, while officials said the procurement process will be completed within the current fiscal year.

According to police officials, the new drones will be used for surveillance as well as operations requiring the deployment of tear gas, shells and mortar rounds.

The drones will have thermal imaging technology and long-range capabilities, allowing police teams to monitor areas and support operations from a distance.

Officials said the drones will be capable of dropping tear gas, shells and mortar rounds on criminals and terrorists during special or emergency operations.

The Punjab Police has allocated funds exceeding Rs50 million for the purchase of the 25 advanced drones.

The latest procurement will add to the Punjab Police’s existing drone capabilities. Police officials said the force already possesses approximately 100 advanced drones.

The additional aircraft are expected to further strengthen surveillance and operational capabilities during emergency situations and special operations across Punjab.
