I Was Part Of Those Sacked At Kessben FM–Adwoa Kyerewaa Reveals How Kessben Brought Her Back
Kessben FM News Editor Adwoa Kyerewaa has recounted a difficult period in her professional life, explaining how the late lawyer, businessman and media owner Kwabena “Kessben” gave her another chance after she was among employees dismissed from the station.
A report published by Kessben TV on Tuesday, August 25, 2026, quoted Kyerewaa as recalling her experience during a major staff shake-up at Kessben FM.
According to her, she was one of the workers who were affected by the mass dismissals that took place at the media organisation.
“I was part of those sacked at Kessben FM,” Kyerewaa said while discussing the difficult period and her connection with the late Kessben.
She explained that losing her job was a painful stage in her career, but her association with the organisation did not end there. Kessben subsequently stepped in and facilitated her return to the station.
Kyerewaa indicated that the late media proprietor was personally involved in giving her the opportunity to resume her work. Her account suggests that he was prepared to reconsider the circumstances of employees and acknowledge their contributions and capabilities.
The experience, she noted, became an important part of her career and offers a different perspective on Kessben’s relationship with the people who worked for him.
Her comments come as tributes continue to be paid to Kessben following his death. Colleagues, media practitioners, business figures and members of the public have continued to reflect on his impact on Ghana’s broadcasting and business sectors.
Kessben was widely associated with both media and business, and Kessben FM became an established radio station in the Ashanti Region during his time in the industry.
Kyerewaa’s recollection adds to the personal stories being shared about the late businessman, particularly stories illustrating how his decisions and interventions influenced the professional lives of members of his workforce.
Through her account, the News Editor has brought attention to a previously less-publicised chapter of her relationship with Kessben and detailed the circumstances that eventually led to her return to the station.
Her experience also provides former and current staff members with another perspective on Kessben’s role and legacy within Ghana’s media industry.
