INEC Chairman, Prof Joash Amupitan, announced the figures in Abuja while providing updates on preparations for the elections and the recently concluded voter registration process.

Lagos leads the national ranking with 7,488,633 registered voters. Kano is second with 6,570,276, followed by Kaduna with 4,662,640 and Katsina with 3,876,051.

Rivers State occupies fifth place with 3,736,434 registered voters. Oyo follows with 3,588,111, while Delta has 3,525,988.

Benue ranks eighth with 3,057,225 registered voters, followed by Ogun with 3,037,981. Bauchi completes the top 10 with 3,012,547 voters.

The figures are contained in the updated voter register after INEC concluded its three-phase Continuous Voter Registration exercise and conducted a final Automated Biometric Identification System clean-up.

The commission said the exercise produced more than 10.7 million new registrations before verification and biometric checks were carried out.

Following the update, Nigeria’s total registered voter population now stands at 103,428,715.

INEC has also fixed October 9 for the commencement of nationwide collection of newly produced Permanent Voter Cards. The commission said the voter register would equally be displayed between October 9 and 15 to allow Nigerians to inspect the records and raise claims or objections where necessary.
