The media personality and reality TV star recently celebrated her magadi (traditional wedding) ceremony in Mpumalanga surrounded by close family members and friends.

“There were so many beautiful moments, but the moment they uncovered the blanket will stay with me forever. Seeing the look on everyone’s faces, particularly my in-laws, was incredibly emotional. Their faces were filled with genuine joy, and in that moment I realised this was bigger than just a wedding. It was two families, two histories and two journeys coming together,” LeJoy exclusively told TshisaLIVE.

She wore three burgundy velvet dresses custom-made by Manyaku UD Fashion House, but they were not only about making a fashion statement, they were about cultural storytelling.

“The burgundy colour in all my dresses carries associations of monarchy, power and prestige, and for me there was an even deeper personal meaning because of the royal heritage on both sides of our families. I wanted the dress to feel regal without losing its Sepedi soul.

It comes down to how I was raised and the values I hold very close to my heart. I had no business talking about a man publicly until he had made the decision to come to my family and ask for my hand in marriage

“All three dresses were very personal to me because they weren’t only about fashion. They were about identity, culture, heritage and the woman I am stepping into in this new chapter.

“For me, that is what made the cultural elements of the weekend so meaningful. It wasn’t simply about wearing beautiful traditional clothes or following customs. It was about honouring where we come from and allowing our families to witness and celebrate that union with us.”

While the Real Housewives of Johannesburg star might have built a career being an open book on screens and the airwaves, she’s always kept her romantic life guarded.

“It comes down to how I was raised and the values I hold very close to my heart. I had no business talking about a man publicly until he had made the decision to come to my family and ask for my hand in marriage.

“There was something beautiful about allowing the relationship to exist without the noise of the outside world. I wanted to protect the process, the people involved and, most importantly, the love itself. Not everything precious needs an audience.”

Gushing about her partner, LeJoy said it was his genuine kindness that let her know they could build a life together.

His kindness has always felt consistent and deeply rooted, and that meant a great deal to me

“He is a genuinely kind man, and that kindness is not something he performs for recognition. It is simply part of who he is. It shows in the way he treats people, regardless of who they are or what they can offer him.

“It is in the way he listens, the way he makes space for others, and the way he responds with patience and consideration. He has a gentleness about him that makes people feel seen, respected and safe. His kindness has always felt consistent and deeply rooted, and that meant a great deal to me.”

LeJoy said her husband makes her feel cared for, supported and understood.

“There is a quiet strength in being loved by a kind man because you know the relationship is built on more than chemistry or grand gestures. It is built on respect, generosity of spirit and the daily choice to treat each other well.”

She described the new chapter of her life as peaceful, purposeful and anchored by partnership.

With the first ceremony serving as her introduction to the groom’s family, LeJoy said more ceremonies will take place as they celebrate their union.
