Mike Sonko Sends Geoffrey Mosiria to Organise Talks With Jubilee Leader Matiang’i

Geoffrey Mosiria has announced that former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has asked him to organise a meeting with Jubilee Party leader Dr Fred Matiang’i, as he positions himself for the Nairobi governor seat in the 2027 General Election.

Mosiria made the announcement on X, saying Sonko tasked him with bringing the two leaders together. He said the purpose is for Sonko and Matiang’i to give him direction officially and, if they agree, endorse his candidature for Nairobi governor.

He acknowledged the tension in his position, saying he respects authority and his current boss. He added that he cannot ignore the call of Nairobi residents. Mosiria described his ambition as more than politics, calling it a calling from God.

He hinted that his time in his current role may be ending. He said he believes God is preparing him for a bigger responsibility, and that what God has ordained no man can stop. The remarks suggest he is preparing to leave his present position to pursue the governor seat, though he did not give a date.

Mosiria said that once Sonko and Matiang’i meet and agree on the way forward, he will join other committed leaders who are ready to serve Nairobi and Kenya. He did not name the leaders he plans to work with.

He defended his credentials by saying his track record speaks for itself. He insisted he is not forcing himself on the people, but responding to what he described as their call. He closed his statement by saying the time to serve Nairobi is coming.

The announcement links Mosiria to two of Nairobi’s most prominent political figures. Sonko governed the county before his removal from office, while Matiang’i leads the Jubilee Party. Mosiria is seeking the endorsement of both before committing to a ticket, which shows he wants backing from established players before launching a formal campaign.

Neither Sonko nor Matiang’i had publicly confirmed the meeting at the time of writing. The Nairobi governor race is already drawing several contenders, among them Tony Gachoka and Babu Owino.
