Bride and groom raise eyebrows over ‘harsh’ rule banning kids at wedding – leaving guests stunned

A bride and groom have raised eyebrows over their ‘harsh’ rule banning kids from their wedding – leaving guests stunned.
As adults-only weddings are becoming more popular, guests have taken particular issue with the ‘savage’ wording the couple used to explain why children weren’t allowed.
‘Are kids welcome? No, your children are not welcome,’ the couple’s blunt response read, along with a laughing crying emoji.
‘No one wants to hear them crying through the ceremony, screaming on the dancefloor or melting down because it’s way past their freaking bedtime.
‘And no, I’m not ordering a separate plate for your picky-a** children either. It’s a child-free wedding. Find a babysitter, enjoy a night off and come celebrate with us.’
One of the wedding guests – who was required to RSVP by October 31, 2026 – was shocked when they stumbled across the frequently asked questions on the couple’s wedding website.
‘I’m against kids at weddings, but dang this is harsh,’ the guest said.
The post attracted more than 1,600 comments – with many agreeing with the couple’s rule about their child-free wedding.
‘My family 100 per cent needs this kind of memo or my sisters will show up with all their kids, demand to be the centres of attention, get upset at the lack of chicken nuggets, and complain the next day about how they were inconvenienced,’ one said.
‘This will sound bad but the kids always become the centre of attention. Crying, all over the dance floor and pulling on people’s clothing. We were in our late 20s and wanted a PARTY. My husband’s family threw a fit so we had a couple there… paying $35 a freaking plate for a kids’ meal. I don’t remember ever having fun going to weddings when I was a kid,’ another revealed.
Many defended the bride and groom’s decision, with one suggesting: ‘This feels like they’ve had the conversation a dozen times already and are just over it.’
Many revealed they gently told guests they were having a child-free wedding – but not everyone was on board.
‘I nicely banned kids from my wedding and it still didn’t stop people from messaging me going “I know the invite says no kids, but can I bring mine?” No,’ one shared.
‘My sister brought her 18-month-old to our child free wedding despite me telling her it was indeed a child-free wedding. My new sister-in-law was upset and told me after the wedding how upset she was that my niece got to come but not her daughter. It caused drama in my family. I’ve been no contact with her for many years now,’ another revealed.
Meanwhile, others were fortunate to have understanding guests.
‘This is what I did, and not one person brought their kids or asked about it (except my nephew who was the ring bearer). I am kind of dumbfounded this is that big of an issue, but I guess most weddings I’ve been to have been child-free anyway,’ one said.
‘My friend had a child-free wedding and her note was so kind. It said they adore and love all the munchkins but the venue was strictly for people aged 21 and over and they would love to see the kids a different day. It was so straightforward, simple, and sweet. 250 person wedding, everyone abided,’ another added.
