The incident happened at about 12:41 on Saturday, 3 October 2026.

Dashcam footage of the incident shows the recording truck travelling along the N4 while negotiating a bend near Waterval Boven. A sedan towing a caravan can be seen travelling ahead in the same direction.

A white International truck towing what appears to be a dark-coloured Superlink trailer approaches from the opposite direction.

As the log truck negotiates the bend, several logs suddenly fall from the trailer and roll or slide across the roadway.

The logs first strike the sedan towing the caravan before some of the timber continues into the path of the recording truck.

The impact causes significant damage to the transporter’s truck, including damage to the bumper, mirror and other components.

What happened afterwards is now the subject of the appeal.

The log truck continues travelling along the N4 after the load falls from the trailer. It is not clear from the footage whether the driver noticed that logs had fallen from the truck or that other vehicles had been struck.

The transporter is now trying to locate the truck and establish who was operating it at the time of the incident.

The truck is described as a white International truck pulling what appears to be a dark-coloured Superlink trailer, reportedly carrying logs.

The N4 through Waterval Boven is a busy freight corridor connecting Gauteng with Mpumalanga and the Mozambique border, with heavy vehicles making up a significant portion of the traffic on the route.

SA Trucker is appealing to fellow truckers, fleet operators and anyone who may recognise the vehicle to come forward with information that could help identify the truck.
