Pakistan, Türkiye to deploy forces to Saudi Arabia amid Houthi attacks.
ISLAMABAD – Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye held an emergency meeting in Riyadh on Monday under their trilateral defence pact amid ongoing Houthi attacks on the kingdom and intensifying fighting in Yemen.
Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman and army chief Fayyadh bin Hamed Al-Ruwaili hosted their Turkish and Pakistani counterparts in Riyadh on Monday.

Türkiye’s Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan, Defence Minister Yasar Guler and army chief Selcuk Bayraktaroglu joined Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Defense Minister Khawaja Asif and Chief of Defense Forces and Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for the trilateral talks.
Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye decided to immediately implement collective defence commitments under the Makkah Alliance for defence, including the rapid deployment of agreed military forces and capabilities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia amid escalating security threats.

The decision was taken at an emergency meeting of the Strategic-Political and Defense Committee of the Makkah Alliance for Defense held in Riyadh on Monday to review security developments and threats facing the Kingdom.
The three countries directed that necessary measures be taken to provide the agreed military forces and capabilities and ensure their rapid deployment in Saudi Arabia in accordance with approved arrangements and the national legislation of the respective countries. The move is aimed at enhancing military readiness, integration and the collective capacity of the three countries to confront and counter threats, according to a joint statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Pakistan.

The committee also approved recommendations arising from political and military consultations held ahead of the emergency meeting, reaffirming that the Makkah Alliance represents a firm commitment to collective defence and a unified position in confronting threats.
The meeting condemned in the strongest terms the attempted targeting of Makkah and Madinah, as well as continuing attacks against cities and civilian and economic facilities in Saudi Arabia.
Pakistan and Türkiye also commended the vigilance and readiness of the Saudi Armed Forces and their professionalism and competence in countering threats and attacks against the Kingdom and safeguarding its security and territorial integrity.

In a significant institutional development, the Committee appointed Pakistan’s Lieutenant General (Retired) Nauman Mahmood as the first Secretary-General of the Makkah Alliance for Defense for a three-year term.
The three parties welcomed the appointment and expressed confidence that Lieutenant General Nauman Mahmood would contribute to advancing the Alliance and achieving its objectives.
The parties affirmed that the security of each member is an integral part of the collective security of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Türkiye.

They said translating the Makkah Agreement for Joint Defense into practical measures would demonstrate the credibility of their collective defence commitment, strengthen deterrence and reaffirm their unity and determination to defend their security, sovereignty and territorial integrity.
