Ghana has emerged third at the 2026 US Army Best Medic Competition held in Italy from January 13–15, showcasing the skill, discipline, and teamwork of its military medical personnel.

The news was shared on the X page of the U.S. Embassy in Ghana on Friday, January 30, 2026.

According to the post, “Ghana fielded a joint team from the Army, Navy, and Air Force, highlighting strong teamwork and a longstanding partnership with the United States in medical readiness. The team performed impressively, with Sgt. Cornelius Adagbe and Leading Seaman Ato Amonoo-Rockson securing third place overall, a clear sign of the skill, discipline, and dedication of Ghana’s military medical personnel.”

For the second consecutive year, Ghana fielded a joint team composed of personnel from all three branches of the Armed Forces.

Competing alongside teams from the United States, Italy, and Liberia, the Ghanaian team faced demanding, combat-like conditions designed to test both medical expertise and operational readiness.

The competition, organised annually by the US Army Medical Center of Excellence (MEDCoE), evaluates the combat medical proficiency of Army medics.

It involves a series of physically demanding and technically rigorous tasks that simulate the challenges faced in real combat situations.

Events include warrior tasks, medical scenarios, stress shoots, land navigation, and obstacle courses—all designed to push competitors to perform under pressure and demonstrate both skill and resilience.
