Roads are closed in Upper Parliament Street, Lower Parliament Street, Market Street, King Street and Queen Street, the service added.

Nottingham Express Transit (NET) trams have been stopped in both directions between the Theatre Royal and Market Square. The fire service has urged the public to avoid the area while emergency services tackle the blaze.

A spokesperson added: "If local residents are affected by smoke, keep doors and windows closed."
