Prepare for Morning and Afternoon Rains on Saturday, September 12, If You Live in These Areas – KMD

The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has forecast rainfall in several parts of the country on Tuesday, October 6, with different regions expected to experience showers at varying times of the day.

According to the weather forecast issued on Monday evening, coastal counties including Mombasa, Kwale, Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu and Taita Taveta could receive rain in both the morning and afternoon.

Mombasa and Kwale are expected to experience light showers in a few areas during the morning, with similar conditions possible later in the afternoon. Kilifi could also record light showers at different times, while Tana River may receive morning showers followed by light rainfall in the afternoon.

Lamu is forecast to have light showers over a few places during both periods. Taita Taveta could start the day with cloudy conditions and a possibility of light morning showers before more showers develop in the afternoon.

Wajir and Mandera are also expected to receive rain in the morning and afternoon. Wajir may experience light morning rainfall before moderate showers and thunderstorms develop later in the day. Mandera could record light rain and thunderstorms in the morning, followed by moderate showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon.

Marsabit, Tharaka-Nithi and Embu are likely to receive rainfall mainly in the morning. KMD expects light to moderate rains in a few areas before sunny conditions return. In Marsabit, the morning showers are particularly expected around Moyale.

A large number of counties are forecast to receive showers mainly in the afternoon. They include Garissa, Meru, Kitui, Machakos, Makueni, Nyandarua, West Pokot, Samburu, Trans Nzoia, Nandi, Baringo, Nakuru, Kericho, Bomet, Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Busia, Siaya, Kisumu, Homa Bay, Migori, Kisii and Nyamira.

Most of these areas are expected to experience sunny intervals before rainfall develops later in the day. Some counties in western Kenya and the Rift Valley could also record thunderstorms, while Kisii may receive moderate showers accompanied by thunderstorms in a few locations.

Nyeri, Kirinyaga and Murang’a are expected to receive light morning rainfall, with additional light showers possible in the afternoon. Laikipia could experience light rains in the morning before sunny intervals become dominant.

In Nairobi, KMD forecasts a cloudy morning with sunny intervals. There is also a possibility of light afternoon showers in a few areas as the weather pattern changes during the day.
