Prophet Exposes Audio Recording of Wicknell Saying He Used Rituals to Get Rich and Win Favour

Self-styled prophet Christopher Guzha, popularly known as Madzibaba DVD, has been arrested on armed robbery charges, days after an audio recording allegedly sent to him by the late Wicknell Chivayo went viral.

Law enforcement sources said he was picked up in Goromonzi on Sunday. The charges relate to a case in which an EcoCash agent lost US$12,000. He is expected to appear before a regional court in Marondera on Monday.

Madzibaba DVD had been accused of being the source of the leaked audio, which began circulating after Chivayo died in a helicopter crash near Marondera last Wednesday. Zimlive shared the recording, which sparked wide discussion on social media.

In the clip, whose authenticity has reportedly been established, Chivayo’s voice is heard thanking the prophet for lucky charms. He claimed they helped him win favour with President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

He also asked whether the Johane Masowe eChishanu preacher was available for one final ritual at Lake Kariba. The ceremony reportedly involved lowering a clay pot filled with ritual objects into the lake.

Chivayo allegedly promised the prophet a vehicle once his business deals started paying off. He is said to have kept his word by delivering a brand new Toyota Fortuner and a bus.

The arrest has drawn scrutiny because of the prophet’s known association with the late tycoon, who had deep ties to Zimbabwe’s political and business elite.

Observers say its timing will inevitably raise questions about whether it is connected to his dealings with Chivayo.
