The musician shared an emotional statement with fans, explaining that the family has spent close to two years trying to make another season happen.
Zwai opened his statement by acknowledging the continued calls from viewers who have been hoping to see the Bala family return to television.
“Africa, we have heard you. So we owe you an honest answer,” he said.
According to Zwai, the family was willing to return and once again open up their personal lives, relationships, homes and music to viewers.
“For close to two years, we have been trying to make another season of The Bala Family happen. We wanted to do it. We were ready to open our lives, our homes, our relationships and our music to you again,” he shared.
However, fans hoping for a third season will have to wait.
“But Season 3 is not happening in the near future,” Zwai confirmed.

Zwai made it clear that the decision not to proceed with another season was not made by the Bala family. The musician admitted that the family was disappointed by the outcome, particularly after spending so much time trying to make the next season happen.
“We won’t pretend we’re not disappointed. We are,” Zwai wrote.
He also explained why the reality show holds such significance for the family beyond television.
According to Zwai, The Bala Family represents the family’s history, relationships, music and legacy.
“The Bala Family has never been just a television programme to us. It is our family, our history, our relationships, our music and our name,” he said.
He added that sharing such personal aspects of their lives with the public requires a significant emotional investment from everyone involved.
The family has also been reminded of how much the show means to its audience through messages from fans, online conversations and the response to their live performances.
While the reality show has often attracted attention for the family’s disagreements and emotional moments, Zwai said the heart of the programme has always been their family bond.
“Because as much as people may talk about the drama, the heart of this story has always been the family,” he said.
He highlighted the family’s generations of talent, music, laughter, disagreements, healing and history, as well as the special connection that happens whenever they come together to sing.
Zwai reiterated that the family was ready to return and acknowledged that fans were also ready.
“We were ready. The audience was ready. The decision wasn’t ours,” he said.
Zwai also apologised to viewers for keeping them waiting, acknowledging that the family’s hopes of returning may have sounded like a promise.
“For now, we simply wanted you to hear the truth directly from us,” he said.
He ended by thanking viewers for continuing to support the family and for reminding them why their story mattered.
“Thank you for loving this family, for waiting, and for reminding us why this story mattered,” Zwai concluded.
For now, there is no indication of when or whether The Bala Family will eventually return for a third season, but Zwai’s message makes it clear the family was willing to make it happen.
