“Wear Sweaters.”: Methu’s Message to Gachagua and Sifuna

Nyandarua Senator John Methu amused guests at a cultural festival in Thika after jokingly warning Rigathi Gachagua and Edwin Sifuna about attending an evening event without warm clothing.

According to a report by K24 Digital on Sunday, November 8, 2026, Methu made the remarks during the second edition of the Ngemi Cia Watho cultural and professional festival held on Saturday, November 7, at Thika Greens Golf Resort.

The senator directed his comments at former Deputy President Gachagua and Nairobi Senator Sifuna, saying he had received a message from someone concerned about their decision to remain without sweaters despite the cold evening weather.

In a light-hearted exchange, Methu warned the two leaders that they risked developing pneumonia if they continued staying outside without warm clothing.

He jokingly reminded them that the country depended on them, suggesting that their absence due to illness would not be desirable.

“Mnaweza kupata pneumonia. Na nyinyi ndio tunategemea,” Methu remarked, drawing attention to the two politicians’ choice of clothing.

He further joked about the possibility of the leaders ending up in hospital before calling for someone to bring them sweaters immediately.

The remarks added a humorous moment to the gathering, which brought together politicians, members of the legal profession, entertainers and other invited guests.

Gachagua and Sifuna Attend Thika Cultural Festival

The Ngemi Cia Watho 2.0 festival provided an opportunity for members of the legal fraternity to celebrate their profession, cultural heritage and friendships outside the courtroom.

The gathering combined professional networking with cultural activities and entertainment, including performances by Mugithi musicians.

Gachagua and Sifuna were among the prominent political figures who attended the event, attracting attention from guests.

The festival also provided an opportunity for political leaders and other attendees to interact in a social setting.

Methu’s comments offered a lighter moment during an event that also featured discussions about Kenya’s political affairs and the country’s leadership.

His humorous advice to the two politicians quickly became one of the memorable exchanges from the evening.
