Tinubu hails Flamingos’ historic U-17 World Cup victory.
President Bola Tinubu has congratulated Nigeria’s Flamingos for becoming the first African team to win the FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.
The President, who received the cheering news upon his return from campaign engagements in Akwa Ibom and Rivers, described the triumph as a proud moment for Nigeria.
He also described the victory as a landmark achievement for African women’s football.
This is contained in a statement issued by Presidential Spokesperson, Mr Bayo Onanuga, on Saturday.
“What a wonderful news to return home to. Our young girls have conquered the world and given Nigerians everywhere another reason to celebrate our great country”, he said.
‘How much do you even have’ – Umahi fires back at Cubana Chief Priest [VIDEO].
Minister of Works, David Umahi, has fired back at socialite Cubana Chief Priest weeks after the socialite described him as the second-worst minister the South-East has ever produced.
Umahi spoke during a recent engagement where he criticised what he called the growing culture of noise-making and public display of wealth.
He questioned the habit of constantly boasting about money, saying real wealth should show in what a person has achieved, not in what he says.
“We have become very noise-making. Every time, money na water. How much do you have? Have you ever seen water that have money? Have you ever seen children that say I have money, or say I have money, or poor?” Umahi said.

A 34-year-old Ugandan woman has been arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, with 87 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.15 kilogrammes, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has said.
The suspect, Farida Nansubuga, was arrested on Tuesday, 3 November, as she prepared to board a flight to Uganda at Terminal 2 of the airport.
In a statement on Sunday by the agency’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, the cocaine was strapped around her pelvic region and concealed beneath two layers of underwear.
2027: ADC will be on ballot; Atiku may not — Keyamo.
The Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo, has said the African Democratic Congress would participate in the 2027 general elections, but warned that candidates produced by the David Mark-led faction, including former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar, might be excluded from the ballot.
Keyamo said the fate of the candidates would depend on the final determination of the party’s leadership dispute by the Supreme Court.
The minister made the clarification in a post on his verified X handle on Sunday, following concerns that the recent Federal High Court judgment against the Mark-led leadership could jeopardise the ADC’s participation in the elections.
