Sonko Leaks CCTV Allegedly Showing Nyambura Meeting City Lawyer At Airbnb On Day Daughters Died
MIKE SONKO leaks CCTV footage of NYAMBURA meeting a city lawyer for MECHI at an Airbnb when her two daughters died in a house inferno – She had locked them inside the house.
Former Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko has released CCTV footage showing Nyambura Mburu allegedly meeting a city lawyer at an Airbnb in Westlands, as investigations continue into the tragic fire that claimed the lives of her two daughters, Angel and Wambo.
The release of the footage has sparked shock, anger, and debate across Kenya, with many Kenyans demanding answers about what really happened on that day.
According to Sonko, the CCTV footage was obtained from Escada Apartments along Lantana Road, Westlands, where Room 301 had reportedly been booked by a person identified as K. Mutai.
Sonko claims Mutai booked accommodation at the Airbnb for October 17 and 18.
He has shared a timeline from the CCTV footage, which he says shows the movements of the two people:
On October 17, at around 3:04 PM, Mutai was reportedly captured on CCTV heading towards Room 301.
At 4:05 PM, Nyambura Mburu reportedly checked in.
At 4:16 PM, Nyambura was reportedly captured heading towards Room 301.
At 7:05 PM, Nyambura was reportedly captured leaving the room.
At 7:17 PM, Mutai was reportedly captured leaving the room.
Sonko also questioned why the phone number and national identity card details provided during check-in contained incorrect digits, asking detectives to establish whether this was an innocent mistake or an attempt to conceal identities.
He has called on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to investigate the matter thoroughly and establish where Nyambura was when the fire broke out, and who was with her two daughters.
The two girls, Angel and Wambo, died in a house fire after they were allegedly left locked inside the house. The tragedy left Kenyans heartbroken, with many asking how such a tragedy could happen.
Supporters of Sonko say he is helping to expose the truth. They argue that the CCTV footage raises serious questions that police must answer.
They say if Nyambura was at the Airbnb while her daughters were alone at home, she must explain why she left them and who was supposed to look after them.
They have called for her arrest and prosecution if investigations prove negligence.
Others, however, say Sonko should allow police to do their work. They argue that releasing CCTV footage on social media could interfere with investigations and prejudice the case.
They say Nyambura has not yet been found guilty by any court, and she deserves a fair investigation.
They also say the man identified as K. Mutai should also be questioned, and his side of the story should be heard before conclusions are made.
Child rights activists have also reacted, saying the case shows the dangers of leaving young children alone at home.
They say parents and guardians must ensure children are always under adult supervision, especially in houses where fire risks are high.
They have called on the government to strengthen child protection laws and to provide support for single mothers who struggle with childcare.
As of now, police have not yet issued a full official statement on Sonko’s claims and the CCTV footage.
Investigations are said to be ongoing, and Kenyans are waiting to see whether Nyambura and Mutai will be summoned, arrested, or charged.
The case has also sparked a debate about morality, parenting, and social media justice. Some Kenyans say social media is now doing the work of police, while others say it is spreading rumours and destroying reputations.
What do you think? Should Sonko have released the CCTV footage?
Should Nyambura be arrested over the death of her daughters?
