“Recover Everything He Has Stolen From Kenyans” Gachagua Reveals First Move If His Side Takes Office
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has said recovering what he described as stolen public money will be the first task if his side takes power.
Gachagua dismissed claims that his camp lacks an agenda, saying it has a clear plan.
He placed the recovery of national public resources at the centre of his message.
“Once we take office, the first thing we will do is recover everything he has stolen from Kenyans and return it to them,” Gachagua said.
He was referring to President William Ruto, whom he accused of taking resources belonging to the public.
Gachagua argued that his team has plans despite what he described as repeated claims by Ruto that the opposition has no agenda.
By making the recovery promise his opening point, he sought to present his camp as focused on accountability and public resources.
He framed the issue around ordinary Kenyans, saying recovered resources would be returned to the people.
However, the statement did not explain how the team would identify the alleged stolen property, pursue it through the courts or ensure recovered funds reached citizens.
Such a process would require investigations, evidence and legal procedures.
Gachagua also did not say whether the recovery would involve money, land, buildings or other public assets.
His remarks add to political exchanges ahead of the 2027 General Election, as leaders seek to convince voters they have solutions to the country’s challenges.
The promise is likely to draw attention because it raises questions about accountability and what a future administration would do differently.
Kenyans will be watching for details on how Gachagua intends to turn the pledge into action if his side wins power.
