Pitso Mosimane Reveals Radical New Strategy For PSL Coaches
Pitso Mosimane Plans PSL Club Visits to Strengthen Relationship With Bafana Bafana Coaches
Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane is looking to strengthen the relationship between the national team and Premier Soccer League (PSL) clubs, believing that improved cooperation and regular communication could play an important role in developing South African football.
Mosimane wants to establish closer working relationships with PSL coaches by visiting clubs and engaging directly with their technical teams. The proposed meetings would give him an opportunity to discuss players, assess their progress and exchange valuable information with coaches who work with them regularly throughout the domestic season.
The initiative comes amid growing calls for stronger cooperation between club football and the national team. Mosimane is understood to support the view that communication between the two environments is essential, particularly when it comes to managing players who are regularly involved in domestic and international competitions.
One of the biggest challenges facing national team coaches is ensuring that selected players arrive for international duty in the right physical and mental condition. While match performances provide important information, club coaches have a better understanding of individual players’ fitness levels, training workloads, injuries and overall development.
Through regular discussions, Mosimane hopes to improve the flow of information between Bafana Bafana’s technical staff and PSL coaching departments. This could also help prevent unnecessary disagreements over player availability, international call-ups and workload management during busy periods of the football calendar.
Clubs such as Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs have several players who are regularly considered for national team selection. Establishing direct communication with their technical teams could therefore benefit both parties.
The initiative also recognises the important role played by local clubs in developing footballers who eventually represent South Africa internationally.
Although no official timetable or list of clubs has been announced, Mosimane’s proposed visits could mark an important step towards building stronger relationships within South African football.
Ultimately, better cooperation could help Bafana Bafana prepare more effectively for upcoming international assignments while ensuring that PSL clubs also benefit from improved player management.
