Obra show: Husband accused of rendering blind wife homeless
Charity Osei has appealed for public assistance to locate her husband, Joseph Osei, whom she accuses of abandoning her and their two children after allegedly using their family house as collateral for bank loans without her knowledge.
Appearing on the Obra Show, aired on Nhyira 104.5 FM and Adom TV and hosted by Ohemaa Benewaa, Charity narrated how she married Joseph in 1998 and jointly operated a building materials business until it collapsed.
According to her, Joseph subsequently decided to travel to Brazil in search of better opportunities. However, before leaving Ghana, he allegedly used their family house as collateral to secure loans from two banks without informing her.
Charity claims her husband informed her about the loans only two days before travelling and maintained communication with her for just two years before disappearing.
She said she struggled to repay one of the loans but could not settle the second, resulting in the bank selling their family house and leaving her and their children homeless.
In 2018, Charity received information that Joseph had returned to Ghana. She claims she made several attempts to contact him and persuade him to settle the outstanding debt so they could recover their home, but he allegedly blocked her calls and communicated only with their children.
Adding to her difficulties, Charity says she is currently battling serious eye problems, which have left her unable to work and provide for herself.
When contacted by the Obra Show to respond to the allegations, Joseph was reportedly unwilling to speak about the matter.
He questioned whether his wife was aware of his return to Ghana, suggesting that she still believed he was abroad, and maintained that if that was what she believed, so be it.
Meanwhile, Charity remains in a difficult situation, battling her health challenges and the consequences of losing the family home.
The Obra Show team says it is making efforts to secure assistance and justice for Charity, while appealing to the public to help locate Joseph and encourage him to take responsibility for his family.
