Not This Time – Mixed Reactions Trail Kofi Ofosu Nkansah’s Post On Bawumia’s Jobs Promise

Kofi Ofosu Nkansah’s Facebook post declaring that youth unemployment will be the defining issue in 2028, and that Dr. Bawumia has workable solutions to create hundreds of thousands of private sector jobs within two years, has split Facebook.

Many argue that the private sector focus is the right approach, insisting that government alone cannot employ everyone, and pointing to Bawumia’s previous proposals like training one million youth in digital skills, the SME Bank, and Jobs Abroad as proof he has a detailed plan.

For them, the post is not just politics, but a reminder that Bawumia’s time at NEIP delivered skills training and starter packs to thousands of young entrepreneurs.

The most repeated argument in the reactions is about the NPP’s own record in power. As one commenter put it on Nkansah’s earlier post: “They have been unemployed under the eight years Akufo Addo/Bawumia government”.

Others have referenced the failed NABCO programme and accused the former government of economic mismanagement and corruption, with some using the derogatory nickname “Bawuliar” for the former Vice President.

Another group of commenters have moved beyond party politics to express personal frustration, writing simply: “We’ve finished school, yet to be employed”.

On another recent post by Nkansah questioning what the Mahama government has done for the youth, the debate also turned hostile, with critics of Mahama calling him a liar over unfulfilled promises, while defenders argued that improved exchange rates and a better business climate are already helping private businesses hire.

In short, the reactions show that for many Facebook users, the 2028 jobs debate is no longer just about promises. It is about trust, whether voters believe Bawumia can deliver in future what critics say he could not deliver in eight years in power, or whether the current government can deliver what it promised in 2024.
