Lawyer William Kusi, counsel for Akosua Serwaa, dies
Ghanaian lawyer William Kusi, who represented Akosua Serwaa in the high-profile legal dispute involving the late highlife musician Daddy Lumba’s two wives, has died.
Kusi, the Managing Partner of Dominion Chambers in Adum, Kumasi, reportedly passed away on the morning of Saturday, November 7, 2026, while in Germany.
His death was announced by the Ashanti Regional branch of the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) in a statement signed by its Secretary, Shadrack Obeng-Yeboah.
The association expressed sadness over the loss of its member and encouraged lawyers to reach out to his bereaved family and colleagues at Dominion Chambers to offer their condolences and support.
Reports indicate that the lawyer may have suffered a heart attack while in Germany, although the circumstances surrounding his death have not been officially established.
He had also reportedly been battling an illness for about two and a half years.
Kusi became a familiar face in Ghana’s public discourse following his involvement in the legal dispute between Akosua Serwaa and Priscilla Ofori, popularly known as Odo Broni, over their respective marital status and rights as wives of the late musician.
His representation of Akosua Serwaa brought him considerable public attention, particularly during court proceedings and media engagements surrounding the dispute.
Beyond his legal practice, Kusi was also known in political circles in the Ashanti Region. He previously served as the Ashanti Regional Communications Officer for Kennedy Agyapong, a prominent figure in the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
His passing has left members of the legal fraternity and those who followed his work in the high-profile Daddy Lumba case mourning his death.
