Kenyan Brian Obuchi Lands Role in WWE Live Television Production Team

A Kenyan broadcast professional, Brian Obuchi, has achieved a major career milestone after joining the television production crew responsible for delivering World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) live broadcasts to audiences around the world.

Obuchi works as an EVS replay operator, a technical role that involves producing instant replays and slow-motion footage during wrestling events. His new opportunity has placed him among the professionals working behind the scenes to ensure fans do not miss some of the most exciting moments inside the ring.

The Kenyan shared his excitement in a video posted on Saturday, November 7, giving his followers a glimpse of the production equipment and technical setup used during WWE broadcasts.

In the video, Obuchi described the opportunity as a special moment in his career, proudly noting that he was representing Kenya in the international wrestling production industry.

“Today is a very special day to me because I am part of the crew that is doing WWE wrestling live,” he said.

He also described himself as the first Kenyan to work in live wrestling production, expressing pride in being able to fly the Kenyan flag on an international platform.

Obuchi’s responsibilities involve operating the EVS system, a specialised technology used by television production teams to capture, select and replay important moments during live events.

The system allows operators to retrieve footage from different camera angles and deliver instant replays, including slow-motion sequences. This gives viewers an opportunity to watch significant wrestling moves, dramatic moments and other highlights from the event.

Working in live production requires concentration, quick decision-making and precise timing. Operators must coordinate with other members of the production crew to ensure replays appear at the right moments without disrupting the broadcast.

For Obuchi, the achievement carries special meaning because he grew up watching professional wrestling and following some of its biggest stars.

He recalled watching legendary performers such as John Cena, The Undertaker and The Rock on television, never imagining that he would eventually become part of the team responsible for bringing wrestling entertainment to millions of viewers.

“As I am growing, nilikuwa nawatch watu kama John Cena and Undertaker, The Rock wakicheza wrestling nikiwa watcher. Lakini leo niko hapa,” he said, reflecting on his journey from being a fan to working behind the scenes.

His announcement has highlighted the important contribution of technical professionals in the global entertainment industry. While wrestling performers attract attention inside the ring, broadcast specialists like Obuchi play a crucial role in ensuring audiences experience every major moment.

His new position marks a significant achievement for the Kenyan professional and demonstrates how technical skills in broadcasting can create opportunities beyond the country’s borders.
