‘I have nowhere to go’ – NDC’s Ashie Moore says his companies have had no government contract

Speaking in a viral video clip recorded at a recent, unnamed NDC event, Ashie Moore — who last month urged party members to remain united after constituency polls — said his financial sacrifices for the party had gone unrewarded.

"None of my companies has been given a government contract. I have loved the party. I have nowhere to go. I have exposed myself," he said in the recording, which neither specifies the date nor names the gathering.

Ashie Moore, who spearheaded the party's 2024 agenda to win at least 25 parliamentary seats in Greater Accra, claimed he had committed more personal funds to the regional campaign than any of his predecessors.

"The investment that I did for this party. Look at the money that I sank into this party in this region. No past or present regional chairman has made that investment before in the history of the NDC," he said.

Ashie Moore, who took the regional chairmanship by defeating longtime chairman Joseph Ade Coker, added that his political profile had also hurt his private businesses when seeking credit from commercial banks.

"When you go to the bank to take a loan, they will tell you that you are politically exposed. So, where do I get a loan?" he asked.

He also said he holds no post in the administration: "I don't have any appointment in this government. I am not a presidential staffer. I have to go and work."

During the December 2024 transition, he shot down a regional notice inviting CVs for government appointments.

The video has circulated as the governing party prepares for its next internal contests, having issued guidelines for its regional executive elections on Friday, November 6. Neither the NDC national leadership nor the Presidency had publicly responded to his remarks as of Sunday morning.
