Happening Now: Simba Arati and Amos Nyaribo Welcome President Ruto to Gusii Region

Kisii Governor Simba Arati and Nyamira Governor Amos Nyaribo have welcomed President William Ruto to the Gusii region as he begins his latest tour of the area.

The two county leaders received the Head of State at Rangenyo Primary School Grounds, where he is expected to engage residents and address various issues affecting the region.

Ruto’s visit comes at a time when political leaders are stepping up their activities ahead of the 2027 General Election. His tour of the Gusii region is therefore attracting attention, particularly because of the political influence of the area.

Governor Simba Arati, who leads Kisii County, and his Nyamira counterpart, Amos Nyaribo, were among the leaders present to receive the President. Their presence highlighted the regional leadership’s involvement in the presidential visit.

The Gusii region has remained an important political battleground, with different political parties and leaders seeking support from residents ahead of the next election.

During his tour, Ruto is expected to interact with residents, meet local leaders and communicate his administration’s development plans for the region.

His visit also provides an opportunity for residents to raise concerns about infrastructure, employment, agriculture, education and the cost of living.

The President’s engagement with local leaders comes as his administration continues to face pressure over economic challenges and demands for better public services.

Meanwhile, the presence of Arati and Nyaribo at the welcoming ceremony is likely to draw attention to the political relationships between leaders in the two neighbouring counties.

As the presidential tour gets underway, residents will be watching closely to hear the President’s message and the commitments he makes during his engagements.

The big question is whether Ruto’s visit will bring new development announcements and stronger political support across the Gusii region.
