Ghana Introduces New Travel Requirement for All Passengers Arriving From November 12

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has announced a new mandatory health declaration requirement for all travellers arriving in Ghana, effective Thursday, November 12, 2026.

In a statement released on Saturday, November 7, the Service directed all incoming passengers to complete and submit an online Health Declaration Form in their respective countries of departure before travelling to Ghana.

The new directive forms part of Ghana’s enhanced public health surveillance measures following the outbreak of the Bundibugyo strain of Ebola in parts of Africa.

As part of its response, Ghana has strengthened health screening at international airports and introduced a 21-day monitoring period for travellers arriving from countries experiencing active transmission of the disease.

According to the GHS, the mandatory declaration form is intended to improve the country’s disease surveillance and emergency response systems, facilitate the early identification of potential health threats and protect both residents and visitors.

Travellers are required to access and complete the form through the Ghana Health Service’s electronic health declaration portal before departure.

The portal is available at: https://ehds.ghs.gov.gh/declaration

The Service has urged all prospective travellers to comply with the new requirement and complete the process in advance to avoid difficulties during their journey.

It has also called on airlines, travel agencies and other relevant stakeholders to educate passengers about the directive and ensure they are aware of the requirement before travelling to Ghana.
