Charlene Ruto’s Wedding Gift Sparks Social Media Buzz as She Reveals Special Surprise for Guests
Charlene Ruto has revealed the thoughtful gift she prepared for guests who attended her wedding to Tanzanian entrepreneur Isaya Yunge, choosing a keepsake that reflected her personal connection to agriculture and her Kenyan roots.
The First Daughter disclosed that she settled on honey from her own bee farms in Kenya as a way of thanking those who joined her for the celebrations in Mwanza, Tanzania.
In a Facebook post, Charlene explained that she wanted guests to take home something meaningful rather than an ordinary wedding souvenir. She said the idea came from wanting to share the sweetness of her home country with those who had made her special day memorable.
She transported jars of honey from her farms in Kenya to Tanzania for the occasion. However, the supplies ran out before all the guests could receive the gift, forcing her to look for additional jars locally.
Charlene said she travelled to Mwanza town and bought more honey from a local producer, turning the shortage into an opportunity to support a Tanzanian business.
“When thinking of what to gift my wedding guests, it was inevitable to remind them how their sweet presence meant the world to me, thus the idea of honey! Transported honey all the way from my bee farms in Kenya to share with them the sweetness of my motherland,” she wrote.
She added that she was pleased to have supported a local honey producer, allowing guests to experience the sweetness of both Kenya and Tanzania.
The post attracted warm reactions from social media users, with several congratulating the newlyweds and praising Charlene’s choice of gift.
Some also recalled an earlier moment when Charlene had spoken about praying for a husband, saying her wedding was a reminder of that prayer.
During her wedding vows, Charlene revealed that she had prayed for her future husband for 16 years. She also recalled writing down the qualities she hoped to find in a partner, saying Yunge had exceeded her expectations.
Charlene and Yunge exchanged vows on Friday, November 6, at Malaika Beach Hotel in Mwanza, in a ceremony attended by family members, friends and several high-profile guests.
