Charlene Ruto sheds tears in church, thanking God for answering her long-time prayer for a husband
President William Ruto’s daughter, Charlene Ruto, became emotional during a church service in Tanzania as she thanked God for answering her long-time prayer for a husband who loves Him.
Speaking before the congregation in Ngorongoro on Sunday, November 8, 2026, Charlene revealed that she had prayed for years to find a good husband who would share her faith and remain by her side throughout her life.
She said she had never imagined that the man she had prayed for would come from Mwanza, Tanzania.
“I had prayed to God for many years to give me a good husband, a husband who loves God and one who would be with me all my life,” Charlene said, drawing cheers from the congregation.
The newlywed said she had initially imagined marrying a Kenyan or someone from another part of the world.
However, she said God’s plan led her to Isaya, whom she described as the answer to her prayers.
“I did not know he would come from Mwanza. I thought perhaps I would marry a Kenyan or God would give me someone from that other side. But by the grace of Almighty God, He gave me Isaya,” she said.
Charlene also expressed gratitude to Isaya’s community for raising and taking care of him before the two met.
“I do not have many words to say, but I am very grateful to this community for taking care of my husband until the day I met him,” she added.
Isaya also addressed the congregation, thanking the African Inland Church (AIC) Tanzania community and the families who helped raise him.
He described himself as a product of several AIC families, saying the church’s love had given him many people he considered relatives, including aunties, uncles, grandmothers and grandfathers.
He singled out a woman he described as his beloved aunt, saying she had shown him unconditional love beyond what he had experienced from anyone apart from his biological mother.
The church appearance came two days after Charlene and Isaya exchanged wedding vows at Malaika Beach Resort in Mwanza on Friday, November 6, 2026.
The ceremony was attended by family members, friends and prominent guests from Kenya and Tanzania, including President William Ruto and First Lady Rachel Ruto, who escorted their daughter down the aisle.
The couple had earlier held their traditional Kalenjin Koito ceremony on August 8 at the Ruto family’s Intonna Heritage Farm in Kilgoris, Narok County.
Charlene’s remarks in Ngorongoro offered another glimpse into the faith and personal journey behind her marriage to the Tanzanian entrepreneur.
