Baba Ijesha Recalls Warnings From Two Clerics Before Legal Troubles

Nollywood actor Baba Ijesha has recounted how two clerics allegedly warned him about possible trouble involving women and legal problems before the incident that led to his imprisonment. According to a report by Punch published on November 8, 2026, he shared the account during an interview with Dele Adeyanju on Agabletu TV.

The actor identified the clerics as Prophetess Abimbola Ajayi of Love of Christ Generation Church and Pastor Israel Ogundipe, popularly known as Genesis.

Baba Ijesha said he met Ajayi during a visit to her church in the United Kingdom while he was there for entertainment engagements. He recalled that his promoter persuaded him to attend a church programme before he was preparing to catch a train.

According to the actor, Ajayi warned him to be careful about women and described a person she said he should avoid. He also recalled that she warned him about possible legal problems and advised him to pray.

He said he did not follow her advice after returning to Nigeria, although he later tried to contact her.

The actor also described an encounter with Ogundipe. He said the pastor mentioned a name and asked whether the person was among his girlfriends. Baba Ijesha said he could not identify anyone by that name at the time.

He claimed that the pastor’s words made more sense to him after the events that later led to his legal troubles.

Baba Ijesha’s account comes after his conviction over offences involving the sexual assault and indecent treatment of a child. In 2022, a Lagos State High Court sentenced him to five years and three years in prison, with the terms running concurrently.

The Court of Appeal later set aside some convictions but upheld the convictions relating to the 2021 incident. The Lagos State Government subsequently clarified that he was released after serving the sentence upheld by the appellate court, not because he had been cleared of all the offences.
