Apart from the Fact That He’s Dishonest, He’s Not a Great Liar – Miracles on Ablakwa
According to an Official Facebook Post by Dennis Miracles Aboagye on November 8, 2026, the controversy surrounding the alleged irregular issuance of Ghanaian Service Passports could develop into a bigger political confrontation involving Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa. In a post captioned “Apart from the fact that he’s dishonest, he’s not a great liar,” Aboagye questions the minister’s handling of the unfolding controversy and suggests that further revelations could raise additional concerns about his involvement.
In his strongly worded message, Aboagye describes Ablakwa as dishonest and accuses him of appearing uncomfortable as questions surrounding the alleged passport-for-sale arrangement intensify. He further claims that the minister placed individuals he considered his own people in positions to execute the alleged scheme. However, these are serious allegations made by Aboagye and have not been established by the investigations announced by the Ministry.
The former presidential staffer also directs public attention to 5 p.m., suggesting that developments expected around that time would provide further information about the controversy. His statement, “Just wait for 5pm. He placed his own people to execute the whole passport sale fraud together. Wait for it!!”, indicates that he believes additional disclosures could challenge the minister’s explanation of events.
His comments come amid a major development announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on November 8. The Ministry disclosed that preliminary investigations had identified ten individuals who allegedly obtained Service Passports despite not meeting the eligibility requirements. The affected passports, issued between January 2023 and August 2026, have been cancelled, and international partners have been notified.
The Ministry also announced the interdiction of Acting Director of Passports Mahama Yahaya Amantana and a junior Foreign Service Officer, Alhassan Sumani. Both officers were referred to the Ghana Police Service for further investigations and possible prosecution. According to the Ministry, Sumani was named in the petitions as the alleged chief architect of the arrangement. It also indicated that retired Ambassador Mohammed Habib Idris, who served as Director of Passports during the 2023 period under investigation, would be investigated and sanctioned if found culpable.
The investigation followed two petitions received by the Ministry. One petitioner alleged paying US$29,000 in 2023, while another claimed to have paid US$5,000 in 2026 to facilitate the acquisition of Service Passports. The allegations prompted Ablakwa to establish an investigative committee on October 13, 2026, after the first petition was received on October 8.
However, the controversy has extended beyond the Ministry’s preliminary findings. The NPP Minority in Parliament has questioned whether an internal ministerial investigation is sufficient and announced plans to seek a parliamentary inquiry. It has also presented bank deposit receipts and mobile money transaction records which it says support allegations of payments to an agent connected to the passport arrangement. These claims require independent examination and verification.
Aboagye’s post therefore reflects the growing political tension surrounding the matter. While the Ministry maintains that its investigations have exposed an alleged scheme and that officials are being held accountable, opposition figures are demanding further explanations about the approval processes and the possible involvement of senior officials.
An important distinction remains necessary: the Ministry’s November 8 statement specifically concerns alleged irregularities involving Service Passports. It stated that preliminary investigations had not established evidence that Diplomatic Passports were being sold. The two categories should therefore not be treated as interchangeable.
Ultimately, the central issue is whether investigations will establish the full chain of responsibility, including those who allegedly facilitated, authorised or benefited from the irregular issuance of the documents. If further evidence implicates senior officials, they too must answer the relevant questions.
For now, Aboagye has made his position clear: he believes the passport controversy is far from over and expects further developments to intensify scrutiny of the Foreign Affairs Minister.
