VIDEO: President Tinubu Arrives Rivers For Campaign

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has arrived in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, for the Rainbow Coalition Presidential Campaign Rally in support of his 2027 re-election bid.

Tinubu arrived in the state on Saturday, November 7, after leaving Akwa Ibom State, where he had spent Friday commissioning projects executed by Governor Umo Eno’s administration.

The President was received at the Obafemi Jeremiah Awolowo International Airport by Vice President Kashim Shettima, six South-South governors, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, and other senior government officials.

Tinubu’s visit is part of activities organised to mobilise support for his second-term ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Rivers rally is scheduled to hold at the Adokiye Amiesimaka Stadium in Port Harcourt, with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, playing host.

Ahead of the President’s arrival, Wike expressed confidence that the rally would attract more than 70,000 supporters, saying preparations had been concluded to ensure a successful event.

“We are highly elated to receive Mr President. Rivers people are very enthusiastic to receive him tomorrow. That is why we have come here to see how prepared we are,” Wike said while inspecting the stadium on Friday.

He also described the visit as Tinubu’s first trip to Rivers State since he was sworn in as President in May 2023.

“The last time the President visited here was when I was in office as governor, when he was President-elect. He came and commissioned projects,” he said.

The Rivers rally follows Tinubu’s visit to Akwa Ibom State on Friday, where he commissioned the Victor Attah International Airport and other projects undertaken by the Umo Eno administration.

During the airport commissioning ceremony in Uyo, the President recalled his years working in Akwa Ibom as an auditor with Mobil before venturing into politics.

Tinubu described his visit to the state as a homecoming, recalling his involvement in activities connected to the development of Ibeno and Eket during his professional career.

“This is a homecoming for me. I was here in Akwa Ibom as a Mobil auditor. We built Ibeno, developed Eket, did what we had to do,” he said.

The President also admitted that he never imagined becoming Nigeria’s President when he was working in the private sector.

“I never dreamed I would become president, to commission an airport, inaugurate this airport, named after a colleague who has served this state effectively,” he said.

Tinubu praised Governor Eno for completing the airport project, describing the achievement as the fulfilment of a long-standing vision.

“Pastor Umo Eno, the governor, you are a great man of conscience, commitment and vision,” he said.
