Today’s Headlines: Ask Atiku How He Built His University — Tinubu; OBJ Urges Youths To Build Nigeria
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has accused former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of using public funds to establish a private university while serving under former President Olusegun Obasanjo. He made the allegation on Saturday during the Rainbow Coalition presidential rally in Rivers State, where he criticised Atiku’s record in government and questioned his suitability for the presidency.
Responding to concerns about hunger in the country, Tinubu argued that some politicians criticising his administration were part of the governments that created Nigeria’s current problems. He specifically cited Atiku’s eight-year tenure as vice-president (1999–2007), alleging the former vice-president used public resources to build a university while overseeing the economy.
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has challenged Nigerian youths to take active responsibility for building a prosperous, secure, and united country, declaring that the future of Nigeria depends largely on the quality of its education, leadership, and younger generation.
Obasanjo gave the charge while delivering the convocation lecture at the 6th Convocation Ceremony of KolaDaisi University, Ibadan, held as part of activities marking the institution’s 10th anniversary.
Speaking on the theme: “The Nigeria We Want: Education, Leadership and the Responsibility of a New Generation,” the former president urged graduating students to look beyond their academic certificates and recognise their roles as contributors to national development.

The 2027 presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement, Seyi Makinde, has urged Nigerians dissatisfied with the state of the country to support his bid to reset Nigeria, citing hunger, insecurity and exclusion from governance as major challenges.
Makinde made the appeal on Saturday in Bauchi State during the flag-off of the APM’s presidential campaign, where he called for reforms in the economy, security architecture and the country’s socio-political system.
The Oyo State governor also urged voters to accept money offered by politicians during campaigns but vote according to their conscience.
“If you are not happy with the way things are in our country today, if you are not happy that there is not enough inclusivity, and if you are not happy that your government cannot tell you the truth or handle our issues with sincerity, then there is only one path for us. And that path is to reset Nigeria.
President Bola Tinubu has assured Rivers State Governor, Siminalayi Fubara, that he would not regret his decision to embrace peace and respect the intervention of political elders in resolving the crisis that rocked the state.
Tinubu gave the assurance on Saturday while addressing supporters at the All Progressives Congress, APC, 2027 presidential campaign rally in Port Harcourt.
He said, “To me, I intervened on your behalf. Similarly, to Fubara, Your Excellency, the host governor of today, I want to thank you specifically for maturity, understanding, respect for the wisdom of elders.
“When we intervened, you respected our position. You maintained peace. You are a committed democrat, Fubara. You will not regret what you have done as long as all of us are alive,” Tinubu said.
